The Garden (dedicated to Katherine)

They're all asleep

My time to act is nigh

They've taken root in the barn

Hidden from their ignorant eyes

Though it's not something I can

overlook

Their insidious eyes gleam red

in the dark

Though what scares me the most

is their Intelligence

From high I pounce

Blitzing for numbers

and quick, painless kills

The hoard scatters

I'll be back tomorrow

I awake when they do

They sip their bitter and cream

Talking of black and white

He proceeds to the slaughterhouse

Today we say goodbye to the lambs

She comes to me

"Fluffy you lazy thing,

when are you gonna start pulling your

weight?"

I think of the barn where she will

find my Work

She puts her boots on and heads

to check the horses

I am tired but I follow

to show her my Work

Inside I am overwhelmed by the sun's

ability to heighten the smells of manure

But wait.

They should all be right there.

They couldn't possibly have...

They're own kind?

I have underestimated them.

The little white sun is high

My eyes light the darkness

This time I see

somehow

their numbers have risen

Wary from my first attack

I corner them

As always going for quick, painless

To be sure they know of my progress

I bring the dead to the doorstep

Back and Forth

Back and Forth

Into the days new light

groggy as I am

I wait on tenterhooks, for them to

begin their day

Three bitter and creams later

They do

She opens the door

No.

It can't be.

There is but one drop of

Evidence

My Work...

My Work...

All my work...

Rage and sadness consume me

I dare not walk the same Earth

as them

I love my leafy green high place

I can breath clean air and watch

the Butterflies who occasion on the

Garden

I would never harm a Butterfly

For a Butterfly would never harm me

I have a plan

When the little white sun rises

I stake out their exit from the

barn

One by One they exit

Quick, Painless

Always

The mound is immense

they may be harmful

But I am still sad

Two at a time

I carry them

Up the high place

Then down again

And bury them deep

A present for the worms

They'll appreciate that

Dark turns slowly to light

The yellow sun

Makes my white coat shine gold around the edges

The mound is gone

at the same time she begins

Headed for the horses first

I go to her, proud

"Fluffy you reckless cat

you could have been eaten by a coyote!"

The yellow suns grow longer

I enjoy it all from the high place

Now white with flowers

The Garden has exploded in blooms and buds

Crops will be bountiful, magnificent

Soil rich

Everyday I bring the Garden

More Life

I perch in my spot

They come to gaze upon the Garden below me

"We've done such a good job with the garden this year!"

Two Butterflies waltz together

over the Garden
