Cocoon

You may expect

the butterfly

but right now

it's all cocoon

Developing slowly

developing wings

to fly over your expectations

But

Give her time

her wings are large,

ornate,

powerful, fierce and delicate

She'll land here and there,

wings like the eyes of Owl

she sees the future

She lands here

and the weasel,

on his way,

stops

ready to pounce on her

but she's off before he has the chance

Now the weasel,

three seconds delayed,

three seconds

that change his world

Now the weasel,

in his moment of concentration,

has time to hear

the hunter

and has three seconds more

to hide

Now the weasel,

learning the importance of a short pause,

has more babies

and the weasel's pups also stop

three seconds earlier

to hear the hunter

approach

and so hide

Now the weasel

thrives

thanks,

in part,

to the butterfly

So give the caterpillar her time,

because...

Sometimes taking up three seconds

of someones life

is the measure

between

life

and

death.
