she may live finely

inside this structure

but she is wild outdoors

outside

elegant to a fault

paws, whiskers and tail

perfection

outside she sprints

she pounces

she lunges

after birds

after squirrels

after a butterfly

inside she grooms

she struts

she purrs

on her tower

on marble floors

to your touch

there is a contrast

so fine

so feline

grace like this

is beauty's

core

element

Today I'm allowed to

feel

sad

to feel

OVERWHELMED

to feel

blue

like the colour of

the sky

behind a rain cloud

like cold rain

on the back of my neck

falling like my tears

like I've lost something

someone

some time

today

I'm allowed

to feel like icicles

melting

breaking off the roof

shattering on the cement

to feel like bedtime

can't come early enough

like I could fall asleep

crying

to be so confused

I couldn't even handle

the truth

today I'm allowed

to feel like my letter

was lost in the mail

a painting of You

never to be seen again

to feel like my watch

can't tell time

time can't move this slow

can it?

today

I'm allowed

to feel like

Oscar

in with the garbage

to feel like I am

a micro-hearted Grinch

it's not Christmas yet right?

to feel like I came

fourth

no medal

no badge

but oh so close

Today

I

am

allowed

to be so confused

I don't even want to know the truth

in case

it hurts.

You know

Without knowing

I know

I know nothing
