September begins

and we're none the wiser

to natures path

red

orange

remnant green

evergreen

bears are looking

to binge

chubby things

the air a perfect mix:

a cool breeze

in fading summer heat

the change in the weather

shows how we have no control

over the runaway train like patterns

I'd never say goodbye to summer

if I had the power

but fall is welcome nonetheless

a transition

to hibernation

I'd like to take a long nap

imagine the dreams I'd have

though projections can be made

the way nature moves

we'll never truly predict

but we do know all the gold

orange

and brown

will fall

die

and revive itself.

you're looking away

constant notification

constant gratification

you've been liked

again & again

the world loves you

have you ever wondered

is that what matters?

with your head down

will you notice

that girl

with the flirty eyes across the bar?

or are you glued to the model who's

about as real as her tits?

when you put the phone

between you & a friend

will you notice their subtle final cry

for help?

will your screen alert you

to the end of days?

will there be time to act

when you're in your own world?

you hear what you

want to hear

but you're never

truly

here.

I spit fire hot fury

You don't get it

I'm in charge

You think you're safe

You never are

I can find you anywhere

And rock your foundations

I'm indiscriminate

If they're the ones who treat the world poorly

I may strike you instead

I'll churn up your home

Flood your street

Starve you out of your shelter

You should have run off

I won't stop

For prayers

When I'm done

Yell for help

The aftermath is for strength in unity

Resilience required.
